Teachers: Scotland – Oban

Tracey Underhill-Law

My love of Traditional Chinese Medicine comes from many years of practicing and teaching the Martial Art discipline of T’ai Chi Chuan.  I have been studying the art of T’ai Chi Chuan since 1986 and have been teaching since 1995.

T’ai Chi Chuan is a discipline that teaches the health benefits of meditation and exercise combined. It is through T’ai Chi that I became interested in deepening my knowledge and pursuing a career in Chinese Medicine.

The style we teach is Yang style, offering tuition in 24 step short form, 108 step long form and fan form, Chen Man Ch’ing style. Tew’s heritage is from Thailand, following the Theravada tradition of Buddhism. Our meditation is of the Vipassana tradition. Vipassana means ‘insight’, or ‘to see things as they really are’. It is a mental training which sits well alongside the mindful exercise training of T’ai Chi.

After many years of practice, my interests have developed. As an acupuncturist and naturopath, my focus is working with my clients bio individual health. I work a lot with musculoskeletal pain and my T’ai Chi reflects this in the exercises I choose, which help reduce arthritic pain and muscular discomfort.
