HOLDING A SNOWBALL
January retreat at Lauvital Lodge, France
The Most Important Thing – Ichi Dai Ji
Cold mountain-scape of silent stillness,
interrupted by the scrunch of snow
under the bare-limbed aspen.
Crackle and spurt of logs burning in the fire:
The force of water icebound to the rocks.
This retreat was a coming together of two practices – T’ai Chi and Zen Brushwork as a means to find the formless through form. Using either (and both) discipline to find our individual freedom to be authentic, and to set our intention for what is the one big thing for this moment, and for the year ahead.
Our few days together were delightfully simple and yet amazingly challenging. We all came away enriched and renewed.
There will be more!
